FTP / Local directories browse select option
Hi,
Today i was trying to backup a site from godaday to hawkhost and i tried for hours and finally gave up going with ftp as each time i was getting failure that we are connected but can not create file along with a php message.
I tried all the combination without any luck and went with the manual transfer.
Secondly to exclude a directory was also a problem and i need to learn how to add the directory names with wild cards to help me in future.
I was wondering if it is possible to add a ftp browse feature so we can select the folder from there instead of hit and trial basis and same goes with the local storage?

I've run the plugin (successfully) on several other web site I do. I notice one difference right up front in the log. The log for all backups appears to ask "Requesting semaphore lock (fd)". For the colonialshagclub.com backup log the next entries are:
Requesting semaphore lock (fd)
0000.016 (0) Semaphore (fd) was stuck, set lock time to 2014-03-07 19:28:42
0000.018 (0) Semaphore (fd) reset to 1
0000.019 (0) Set semaphore last lock (fd) time to 2014-03-07 19:28:42
0000.020 (0) Semaphore lock (fd) complete
For the other web sites the next entries are:
Requesting semaphore lock (fd)
0000.161 (0) Set semaphore last lock (fd) time to 2014-03-07 03:42:03
0000.162 (0) Semaphore lock (fd) complete
There appears to be some difference the host server's posture.
I did contact the server's tech support and they say I have 30 seconds to run. And it couldn't be updated on the server I'm on.

Hi Joseph,
Those log entries are what are expected if the previous backup attempt failed.
One other thing you can do is go into the 'expert' settings, and turn the 'split' size down to 25Mb. This will cause UD to split zip files more often, and help in low-resource situations. They're saying there's 30 seconds, but if you read the log, then you'll see nothing is ever logged after more than 10.6 seconds in 10 attempts. So if there is 30 seconds available, then this means that it takes more than 20 seconds to do some quite simple zip file manipulations - that's not an impossible scenario, but it would mean that the servers are either very slow by themselves, or very slow because of being overloaded.

We've seen this a few times with GoDaddy. If they can't open the firewall ports, then you might get success by going into UD's "expert" settings and turning off SSL. Or use Dropbox!! David

Thanks -- I ran it again (but not after implementing your above advice) and it took 25 "start agains" but it built the 4 zip files and a database. I moved those to a development location, used them to do a restore and it actually worked.

I am using UpDraft Plus with the addons for Multisite, Automatic Backup and Dropbox folders. It has performed flawlessly since I bought it last September, but in the last two plugin updates - other plugins as well as UpDraft, I have had conflicting screen messages that I don't understand. I'm attaching a link to a screen shot of the latest one. http://mandmcentral.com/display/
It shows UpDraft Plus as being updated though the text above it says that the process is complete and was successful. I tried to leave it until it finished this second "update" and it went all night and still did not finish. When I force it to stop, it SEEMS as if it IS updated, but I don't know exactly how to be sure of that.
Does anyone know what is going on?

It looks to me from that screenshot like all the updates are going through OK - the messages are just displaying in the wrong order on the output for some reason.

The backup doesn't works on ipage.com
ipage.com doesn't allow most of the chances to its configuration so most of things mentioned in guide are not possible to make it work.
Is there any way to call the cron externally or any other way to make it work?

- i purchase UpdraftPlus Premium / 10 sites.
- when i click to MIGRATE button (in Backups), i get pop-up widow to purchase another plugin - Migrator
- i trying to deactivate/delete UpdraftPlus plugin and don't working again
- i am using Wordpress 3.8.1. and installed UpdraftPlus 1.8.13
